Javier Reneses is Associate Professor in the Institute for Research in Technology (IIT) at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid. He obtained his Electrical Engineering degree in 1996 from the School of Engineering (ICAI) of the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, Madrid, Spain. After working for an Educational NGO in Bolivia, he joined the IIT, where he received his doctoral degree in May 2004 for the thesis "Mid-term operation of electricity markets". He obtained a degree in Mathematics in 2005 from the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED), Madrid. He has headed more than 60 consultancy and research projects, and has participated in more than 90. He has worked and lectured extensively on the operation, planning and regulation of energy systems, and particularly midterm operation of electricity markets, regulation of electric distribution business, tariff design and natural gas markets. In these topics he has been a consultant for governments, international institutions, industrial associations, and utilities in many countries. Prof. Javier Reneses has published more than 70 papers and book chapters in national and international journals, and conference proceedings. He is professor of Electric Distribution Business at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas? Masters degree in the Electric Power Industry (Erasmus Mundus), and at the Florence School of Regulation, where he also lectures on electricity tariff design. He also has been teaching Statistics and Energy and Sustainability for several years at the Comillas' School of Engineering.
