Jorge Díaz Lanchas is assistant professor in the Department of Economics at Pontifical Comillas University-ICADE. He holds a PhD in Economics (summa cum lauda with mención internacional) from Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain, 2016). His PhD thesis was awarded with the national award for thesis in economics by the Spanish Royal Academy of Doctors (Real Academia Española de Doctores, 2017) and with the excellence award from Autonomous University of Madrid (2016). He also has a Msc in International Economics (2012) from Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain) whose Master Thesis was also awarded by the Arquímedes national award (accesit) for young researchers by the Spanish Ministry of Educaction (2012). Before joining ICADE, he was economist researcher (2017-2021) at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. In addition, in 2016 he was postdoc visiting scholar in the Center for International Development at Harvard University (Boston, USA) and predoc visiting scholar at the Free University of Amsterdam (2015), Deusto Business School (2014), Purdue University (2014), Illinois University at Urbana-Champaign (2012), and the Kiel University and the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (2011). He is a specialist in international trade, regional and urban economics, and has published in international peer-reviewed journals such as Regional Studies, Transportation Research Part A:Policy and Practice, Transport Policy, Spatial Economic Analysis and Applied Economic Letters, plus a number of technical reports from the European Commission. Nowadays, in ICADE he is teaching undergrad courses on macroeconomics. This teaching experience is complemented with previous teaching courses on international economics at Loyola Andalucia University where he was adjunct professor (2018-2020), and teaching courses on economics and political economy at Autonomous University of Madrid (2012-2016) where he was teaching assistant for the degrees of economics and political science. Finally, he is also lecturer on international political economy for executive (in-company) training programmes with renown companies such as BBVA, Santander, El Corte Inglés and Repsol.
