Jesús R. Jiménez Octavio obtuvo la titulación de Ingeniero Industrial en 2004 por la Universidad Pontificia Comillas y la de Doctor Ingeniero Industrial en 2009 por la misma universidad, con la tesis doctoral titulada "Análisis dinámico y optimización de catenarias para alta velocidad". Actualmente desarrolla su labor docente en el Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica del ICAI como profesor del área de mecánica de medios continuos; y su labor investigadora en las áreas de Sistemas Ferroviarios y Bioingeniería del Instituto de Investigación Tecnológica. Ha obtenido el Premio Talgo a la Innovación Tecnológica 2010, con el trabajo "Simulación, cálculo y optimización ferroviaria"
